Eckehard Stier (born 1972 in Dresden) is a German conductor. He studied conducting, piano and accompaniment at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden. Stier was Generalmusikdirektor of the City of Görlitz and Chief Conductor of the New Lausitzer Philharmonic for 10 years. From 2009 to 2015 he was Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. Concert engagements have taken him to Europe, Japan, New Zealand and the USA, among others. His broad repertoire includes more than 80 stage works. Since 2012, Stier has regularly conducted concerts of video game music.
