Description

Walks in Paris are made more pleasant by the countless squares and plazas of this city – with benches in the shade of plane trees, winding pavements and a nostalgic atmosphere. These places are also repositories of the memory of politicians, scholars and artists active in the French capital. Numerous musicians and composers have also been commemorated with squares named after them, including the protagonists of this album – Nadia Boulanger, Francis Poulenc and Paul Tortelier. Simon (Szymon) Laks does not have his own square, but he too was associated with Paris, where he spent some of the happiest years of his life.

The artists form a musical and life duo, which translates into a deep artistic synergy and musical understanding, consequently leading to profoundly sensitive and passionate, unforgettable artistic creations.

Adam, as a leading cellist of the young generation, has been appointed principal cellist of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR). Furthermore, he performs extensively as a soloist and chamber musician on both Polish and international stages. He is also a member of the internationally recognised Polish Cello Quartet. Anna, a pianist devoted to chamber music, regularly performs in various instrumental ensembles. She collaborates with musicians preparing for international music competitions, and, as a highly sought-after musical partner and tutor, is repeatedly invited by institutions such as NOSPR, Cavatina Hall, Silesian Philharmonic, and the International Cello Academy. Anna’s stage companions appreciate her for her sensitivity and unique approach to the idea of partnership in music.

The artists initiated their joint performances in 2010. They find the greatest joy and satisfaction in interpreting masterpieces of chamber music (Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert), at the same time being passionate about discovering lesser-known music and presenting it on stages at home and abroad. Their repertoire is a fascinating journey through the eras – from the classical to the contemporary compositions.

Adam Krzeszowiec is a Polish cellist and principal cellist of the National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice since 2012. He graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy in Katowice and continued his studies with Frans Helmerson in Cologne and Gary Hoffman in Brussels. A laureate of numerous international cello competitions, he has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at leading European venues, including Wigmore Hall, Tchaikovsky Hall and Salle Gaveau. He has appeared at prestigious festivals and collaborated with renowned artists such as Maria João Pires, Augustin Dumay and Mischa Maisky.

Anna Krzeszowiec is a Polish pianist and chamber musician. A graduate of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, she has received prizes at numerous international chamber music competitions. Since 2010, she has performed regularly with cellist Adam Krzeszowiec, winning major awards in Malta and Italy. Her extensive festival experience includes appearances in Poland, France, Norway and Algeria. Passionate about contemporary music, she has premiered works by composers including Agata Zubel, Paweł Mykietyn and Paweł Szymański. She currently teaches at the Katowice Academy.
