Zygmunt Noskowski (2 May 1846 – 23 July 1909) was a Polish composer, conductor and teacher. Born in Warsaw, he studied at the Warsaw Conservatory under Stanisław Moniuszko before continuing his education in Berlin with Friedrich Kiel. After working as a conductor in Konstanz, he returned to Warsaw in 1880 and remained there, holding important positions at the Warsaw Conservatory, Warsaw Music Society and Warsaw Philharmonic. His students include Karol Szymanowski and Grzegorz Fitelberg. Although renowned for orchestral works, he also composed operas, chamber music, sonatas and vocal works.

The Four Strings Quartet, founded in 2004 by Lucyna Fiedukiewicz, consists of musicians from the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. The ensemble has performed alongside internationally acclaimed artists and conductors, enriching its artistic development and musical interpretation. Its repertoire spans from the Baroque period to contemporary works, with a particular focus on quartets by Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert and Dvořák. Recognized for its expressive and distinctive performances, the quartet won the 2009 Grand Prix in the "Forgotten Polish Music" Recording Project Competition.
