Władysław Żeleński (6 July 1837 – 23 January 1921) was a Polish composer and educator, widely considered the most influential Polish composer of the late nineteenth century, and the teacher of a generation of composers. After studying in Kraków, Prague and Paris, he earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Prague and later became a professor of music theory and composition in Kraków. Renowned for his operas inspired by Polish literature, Żeleński blended French grand opera, post-Wagnerian influences, and elements of Polish folk music. He also composed numerous lyrical songs based on Romantic poetry.

Joanna Ławrynowicz (born 16 April 1975) is a Polish pianist. Born in Warsaw, she studied at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy under Teresa Manasterska and later with Halina Czerny-Stefańska. An award winner at international competitions, she has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician across Europe, Asia, the Americas and New Zealand. Ławrynowicz has recorded more than 40 albums, many featuring world premiere recordings of Polish repertoire, earning international critical acclaim. She also teaches masterclasses worldwide and is a professor of piano at the Fryderyk Chopin University in Warsaw.
