Frédéric Chopin (1 March 1810 – 17 October 1849) was a Polish Romantic composer and virtuoso pianist. A prodigy from Warsaw, he moved to Paris at 21, where he spent the rest of his short life. Although often in poor health, he produced a remarkable body of piano-centered works, including nocturnes, mazurkas, waltzes, polonaises, études and two piano concertos. His music, which is known for technical brilliance and innovative harmony, helped shape musical nationalism and late-Romantic style. Chopin's iconic status, dramatic life, and early death made him one of the enduring symbols of the Romantic era.

Ivan Moravec (9 November 1930 – 27 July 2015) was a Czech pianist. Trained at the Prague Conservatory and later with Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, he gained international recognition after acclaimed debut performances in London and the United States. Moravec collaborated with leading conductors and major orchestras worldwide, performing at prestigious concert halls and festivals. His award-winning recordings for Nonesuch, Vox and Supraphon established him as one of the foremost pianists of the 20th century. He was also a respected educator at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague from 1969 to 2014.
