Description

Jürgen Geiger plays the organ at St. Ulrich & Afra in Augsburg. – The “soul” is the spiritual essence of every creature; in it, the timeless belonging to creation as a whole is manifested. In Organ Symphony No. 2, the Virgin Mary is depicted in four rather softly rendered images. In the “Tree Pictures,” following the tradition of the “Celtic Tree Calendar,” energetic characteristics of seven tree types are presented. Organ Symphony No. 15 was composed “in memoriam” on the 100th anniversary of the death of Max Reger, whose compositional style, as ingenious as it was eruptive, is so permeated by contrasts and obsessions that only a psychological analysis can comprehend this life lived between boundless excess and fragile introversion.
