Description

"Echoes", a new album featuring Norwegian trumpet soloist Tine Thing Helseth, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and conductor Petr Popelka. The recording presents trumpet concertos by Alexander Arutiunian, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Mieczysław Weinberg, along with Arutiunian’s Theme and Variations.

The album explores a wide range of trumpet repertoire, combining dramatic, modernist, and emotionally rich works. Arutiunian’s Trumpet Concerto opens the program with its energetic and folk-inspired themes. Penderecki’s Concertino for Trumpet and Orchestra introduces a contemporary edge, and Arutiunian’s Theme and Variations adds a kaleidoscope of moods and colors. The album concludes with Weinberg’s Trumpet Concerto, offering emotional depth and complexity through its expansive structure and expressive writing.

Recorded in Bergen, the album captures the dynamic collaboration between soloist and orchestra under the direction of Petr Popelka. The release is available on CD and digital platforms.

Tine Thing Helseth (born 18 August 1987) is a Norwegian trumpet soloist. Trained at the Barratt Due Institute and the Norwegian Academy of Music, she has built an international career performing with orchestras across Europe, Asia and the Americas, while also collaborating extensively in chamber music. Helseth is Artistic Director of the Risør Chamber Music Festival and a dedicated advocate for new music, including recent premieres of Nico Muhly's Doom Painting. An award-winning recording artist with the LAWO label, she also leads the all-female brass ensemble tenThing and is active as an educator.
