Description

Spanish Landscapes is the debut album by Spanish violinist Leticia Moreno on Deutsche Grammophon.

The artist began playing the violin at the age of three and has also performed with renowned symphony orchestras since she was twelfth. Taught by great teachers such as Maxim Vengerov and Zakhar Bron, Moreno proved her artistic talent several times. Christoph Eschenbach praised her brilliant technique and her touching musicality as well as her impressive charisma.

With Spanish Landscapes, Leticia Moreno invites you on a fascinating journey into the world of Spanish classical music, on which she is accompanied by pianist Ana-Maria Vera. Together they interpret the works of great Spanish composers such as Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados, Isaac Albéniz and Pablo de Sarasate.

Leticia Moreno (born 1985 in Madrid) is a Spanish violinist of Peruvian heritage known for her strong artistic ties to Latin America. Trained under masters such as Zakhar Bron, Maxim Vengerov and Mstislav Rostropovich, she won major competitions including Szeryng, Novosibirsk, Sarasate and Kreisler, as well as the Echo Rising Star award. Moreno has performed with leading conductors and major orchestras worldwide, and is an active chamber musician. Her recordings on Deutsche Grammophon include Piazzolla, Spanish Landscapes, and Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1 with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic.

Ana-Maria Vera (born 1965 in Washington, D.C.) is an American pianist. A student of Ylda Novik and Leon Fleisher, she has performed with major orchestras worldwide, including Philadelphia, Cleveland, London Philharmonic and Tokyo Symphony, under conductors such as Riccardo Muti and David Zinman. Vera has appeared in leading venues like the Kennedy Center, Concertgebouw and Wigmore Hall, and is an active chamber musician with partners including Joshua Bell and Steven Isserlis. She is founder of Bolivia Clásica, a charitable organization which promotes cultural exchange and music education.
