Julius Röntgen (9 May 1855 – 13 September 1932) was a German-Dutch composer and teacher. Privately educated, he began composing at age eight and studied under prominent musicians like Ferdinand David, Carl Reinecke and Franz Lachner. A meeting with Brahms in 1874 had a decisive influence on his compositional style. Settling in Amsterdam in 1877, Röntgen co-founded the Amsterdam Conservatory and helped establish the Concertgebouw building. He composed over 650 works in almost every genre, evolving from Romanticism to modern experimentation. His first wife was Swedish composer Amanda Maier.

Christoph Schickedanz (born 1969 in Darmstadt) is a German violinist and professor. He studied in Freiburg and at Indiana University Bloomington, where he also taught. After earning his concert diploma, he held teaching positions in Mainz and Berlin, and since 2004 has been a professor at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama. His international masterclass engagements span Europe, Asia and the Americas. As a performer, he has appeared globally and recorded over 60 CDs, often reviving neglected late-Romantic composers. Schickedanz plays an instrument made in Trieste around 1855 by the Giovanni Dollenz.

German pianist Ernst Breidenbach studied with Werner Hoppstock and Rainer Hoffmann at the Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstad, as well as with Aloys Kontarsky and Günter Ludwig in Köln. In 1981 he made his debut as soloist under the baton of Mathias Husmann in Darmstad. His musical partnerships in chamber music with Johannes-Matthias Michel and in Lieder with Markus Schäfer led to interest in wider repertoire, and since 1992 to the publication of more than 12 CDs on Cadenza, CPO, ifo, NCA and Signum. Breidenbach has appeared many cities of Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Austria and the USA.
