Théodore Dubois (24 August 1837 – 11 June 1924) was a French Romantic composer, organist, and music teacher. After study at the Paris Conservatoire, Dubois won France's premier musical prize, the Prix de Rome in 1861. He became an organist and choirmaster at several well-known churches in Paris, and at the same time was a professor in the Conservatoire. In 1896 he succeeded Ambroise Thomas as the Conservatoire's director. As a composer, Dubois was seen as capable and tasteful, but not strikingly original or inspired. His books on music theory were influential, and remained in use for many years.

Marc Coppey (born 1969 in Strasbourg) is a French contemporary classical cellist. A protégé of Yehudi Menuhin and Mstislav Rostropovich, Coppey won First Prize and ‘Prize for the Best Bach Performance’ at the prestigious Leipzig Bach Competition (1988). Since then, he has carved out an impressive solo career to date, working regularly with many of the world’s finest orchestras and conductors. Alongside mainstream cello literature, Coppey is a champion of lesser known and contemporary works. He is also a passionate chamber musician, and former member of the Ysaÿe Quartet (1995-2000).

***

Jean-François Heisser (born 7 December 1950) is a French classical pianist. He studied piano first with Paul Simonnar in Saint-Étienne, then at the Conservatoire de Paris with Vlado Perlemuter. His vast repertoire ranges from romantic music (Brahms, Chopin, Schumann, Schubert, Mendelssohn) to contemporary music (Boulez, Stockhausen, Gilbert Amy, Berio). He performs regularly with the Pražák, Lindsay and Ysaÿe Quartets, and also enjoys conducting from his piano. From 1984, Heisser teaches at the Conservatoire de Paris. Among his pupils are Bertrand Chamayou, Vanessa Wagner, Lucas Debargue.
