Ahmet Adnan Saygun (7 September 1907 – 6 January 1991) was a Turkish composer, musicologist and writer on music. One of a group of composers known as the Turkish Five who pioneered western classical music in Turkey, his works show a mastery of Western musical practice, while also incorporating traditional Turkish folk songs and culture. His extensive output includes five symphonies, five operas, two piano concertos, concertos for violin, viola and cello, and a wide range of chamber and choral works. Saygun was known not only as a composer but also as a scholar, an ethnomusicologist, and a teacher.

Ankara-born cellist Sinan Dizmen graduated from the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatoire in 1994, then furthered his studies in Germany at the Lübeck Musikhochschule. He completed his doctoral studies at Bilkent University in 2006. Dizmen was a member of the Lübeck Quartet, Lübeck Musikhochschule Orchestra, Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, Vogtland and Lübeck Philharmonic orchestras. He has performed as a soloist with conductors and orchestras throughout Turkey. Dizmen was appointed as Associate Professor of Cello at the Ankara University State Conservatory in 2011.

Elif Önal completed her Bachelor and Master’s degrees at Istanbul University State Conservatory and her Doctoral degree at Bilkent University. She also participated in masterclasses with Leontina Margilus, Frank Braley, Gülsin Onay, Hüseyin Sermet, Roland Batik and Christopher Lieske. Önal has performed recitals and chamber music concerts in prestigious concert halls throughout Turkey, United States of America, Germany and Austria as well as soloist with Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra and İzmir State Symphony Orchestra. She currently teaches at Ankara University State Conservatory.
